Computing guide > Logging in to Computing Services

Use your Bath Spa University user name and password. This will be created for you after you have completed the registration process on the Bath Spa student portal - https://studentportal.bathspa.ac.uk/Home/

For some resources you'll need a domain name - use the word 'academic' for this. Here's where to find these:

Your user name
If you're a student, look for the six figure number on your student card: that is your user name

Your password
Only you know this. If you've lost it, or can't set it, take yourself and your student card to a computer helpdesk (telephones in the IT rooms) or use the 'SAMS' pc in the NP IT rooms to reset it.

Your Domain:
Bath Spa University uses the word "academic" here (with no inverted commas).

Logging into Webmail, private areas of the web site, the Applications Server

You'll see a dialogue box as follows:

dialogue box

or

dialogue box2

If the 'Password' dialogue only has two lines, use the domain name like this:

dialogue box3

...type the word 'academic' before your username and check that it is separated from your user name by a backslash ( \ ) as in the graphic to the left.
Like this: academic\username

Logging into the 'Guestnet', the 'Minerva' VLE, 'Liquid Office'

Use just your username and password for these - no need for the domain 'academic'.

Minerva's login page is at https://minerva.bathspa.ac.uk

Logging into the Library system

Collect a PIN from the library issue desk. When you have one, you can log into your account using your reader number (on your library card) and the PIN. If you're a student at Bath Spa University, your reader name is your username.
